Access to Medication Program: Patients without the means to afford prescriptions can access affordable medications through our pharmacy program. Our licensed pharmacy technicians will enroll them in Nova Scripts Central, a non-profit, central fill pharmacy where 90-day supplies can be as low as $5.00 per prescription. For the most expensive, brand name products, our pharmacy staff will enroll patients and manage their accounts in the Pharmacy Assistance Programs funded by pharmaceutical companies for indigent care. Patients will also have access to low-cost drugs through a contract with a local pharmacy.
Case Management: On-site case management services are integrated into ANHSI primary care health delivery system. Our nursing staff engages in case management in conjunction with medical providers. Patients referred for radiologic tests, laboratory tests, and specialty care that needs follow-up are tracked by nursing staff in collaboration with the provider. Abnormal cancer screening tests for cervical, breast and colon cancer will be tracked by designated nurse case managers who ensure that patient results are managed in a timely manner with either follow-up or referrals for specialty care.Health
Insurance Eligibility: Our eligibility specialist workers will help educate families about the options that are available and those that will become available through the Affordable Care Act in 2014 and beyond. The eligibility worker will also help enroll in various options as appropriate. This will be particularly important for those newly eligible for health insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), whether through the state-based exchanges or Medicaid expansion.
Family Support: ANHSI provides its current patients assistance with concrete needs related to employment, food, finances, housing, or access to community social services through either ANHSI staff or in-kind contribution staff provided by Fairfax County Health Department and Fairfax County Department of Family Services.
Women, Infant, Children (WIC) Program: In conjunction with Alexandria Health Department ANHSI provides services three days/week at our Pediatric clinic (2 East Glebe Road), an important support service for our pregnant patients and for children birth to 5 years old. WIC services will also be available on other sites on a later date.
